Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais describes Jharkhand as the finest creation of God
Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais today described Jharkhand as one of the finest creations of God. Stating that Jharkhand is endowed with bountiful nature, minerals and art, the Governor said the government is giving due importance to promoting the rich arts of Jharkhand.
Recalling his tenure as Governor of Jharkhand, the Governor said the State has tribes that worship trees and nature. He said that attaching religious significance to protection of nature has helped the cause of preservation of biodiversity.
The Governor was speaking at the State Formation Day programme of Jharkhand organised for the first time at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Wed (1 Nov). The programme was organised as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of Government of India.
Paying rich tributes to Shahid Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary, Governor Bais said he had the privilege of serving as the Governor of Jharkhand before coming to Maharashtra.
The Governor said the celebration of the Formation days of various states and Union Territories in all the Raj Bhavans across the country had strengthened the cause of unity and national integration.
A cultural program showcasing the folk dance and culture of Jharkhand was presented by the artists from Jharkhand. The cultural programme was organised in association with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs Jharkhand, Jai Foundation and Rudra Pratishthan.
Chhat Puja, Chhau dance, Kavad Yatra, Paika dance, Fagua dance, Karam dance, Maghe dance etc. were presented in the cultural programme.
The Governor felicitated the founder of Rudra Pratishthan and Jay Foundation Dhanajay Singh, former MP Sanjeev Naik, artists Srishtidhar Mahato and Lakhan Guriya, Smt Lalmati Singh, Seema Singh and other artists on the occasion.
The video message sent by Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan was shown on the occasion. An audiovisual film on Jharkhand State was shown on the occasion.
Secretary to the Governor (Addl Charge) Shweta Singhal delivered the welcome address, while the Comptroller of the Governor’s Households Arun Anandkar proposed the vote of thanks.
