PRESS RELEASE DELHI POLICE DATED 22.06.2021 A GANG OF CHEATERS BUSTED BY THE STAFF OF PS CIVIL LINES • A GANG OF CHEATERS/THIEVES BUSTED WITH THE ARREST OF ITS TWO MEMBERS. • THEY HAD CHEATED A SHOOTING ASPIRANT AND TAKE AWAY HIS HIGH END MOBILE PHONE, AIR PISTOL IN EXCHANGE OF BUNDLE OF PAPERS. INCIDENT:

In the intervening night of 24/25.03.2021, the complainant Gaurav Sharma S/o Hari Om r/o Bulandshahar, UP (He is a shooting competition aspirant and his parents are farmers)was returning to his relative’s house after participating in a shooting competition venue at Jaipur, Rajasthan. When he reached near Kashmiri Gate ISBT, two young boys approached him and instigate him. They offered him a bundle of currency notes (heavy amount) in lieu of his high endmobile phone, some cashand a bag containing his Air Pistol. They were so adept in there art of cheating that though the complaint was quite young and intelligent, even he could not get any smell of it. When complainant moved towards his house and opened the packet containing cash, he realised that there was only papers. He had been cheated and was full of guilt and remorse because in the bag, he was carrying the air pistol with which he used to participate in shooting events for a bright future and just because of loss of that air pistol, he would not be able to attend any shooting competition. It was the thought, which was killing him like anything. The statement of complaint was recorded and a case vide FIR No. 71/21 dated 25.03.21 u/s 420/379 IPC was registered in PS Civil Lines. TEAM & INVESTIGATION: A special team comprising of ASI Vikesh, HC Mahesh, HC Jitendra, Ct Shiv, Ct Ramesh and Ct Kishore was constituted to work on the case, under the leadership of Inspr. Ajay Kumar, SHO/PS Civil Lines and guidance of Sh. Pradeep Kumar, ACP/Civil Lines. During investigation, it was revealed that earlier also some of the persons of JJ Colony Bawanawere arrested in similar type of offences. The staff worked on the information and deployed their sources to get any clue about the culprits, but initially didn’t get any clue. However, the team kept their sources in liaison to solve the present case. The above said consistent efforts bore fruits,when the team received an information through sources that one person, who is carrying some pistol of some army manwas willing to sell the same for very nominal price. Accordingly, a trap was laid and one person identified asMohd. Suhag @ Sahil, age 21yrs s/o Mohammed Akram r/o Bawana, Delhi was apprehended. In his casual search, one air pistol was recovered from his possession. INTERROGATION: During interrogation, Mohd.Suhag @ Sahil, 21 yrsinitially tried to mislead the team by saying that he is a cheater only, who was willing to sell this toy pistol to the customer to earn money but on sustained interrogation he confessed that his brother namely Irfan@Chetak had given him this gun to sell the same. On further integration, he revealed that his brother Irfan along with one Mohd. Sultan @ Kallu used to commit cheating with the gullible passengers to get money. He disclosed that few months ago his brother and Mohd. Sultan @ Kalluhad cheated one passenger of his articles including one bag in which there was the gun.He further disclosed that despite best efforts, they were not able to use the gun therefore they decided to sell it. The responsibility of selling that gun was given to Mohd. Suhag @ Sahil, while Mohd. Sultan @ Kallugave the High-End Android phone of the complainant to Mukhtar, 30 yrs. At the instance of Suhag, raids were conducted and the accused Mukhtarhas been arrested. The cheated mobile phone of the complainant was recovered from his possession. He confessed that he along with Irfan have earlier been arrested in the similar case. DETAIL OF ACCUSED PERSONS: 1. Mohd. Suhag @ Sahil, s/o Mohammed Akram r/o Bawana, Delhi, age 21 yrs 2. Mukhtar s/o BabuJaan r/o Bawana, Delhi, age- 30 yrs.(Previously involved in a theft case of PS Civil Lines).
